Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose to perfume myself naturally?
Because industrial perfumes and many cosmetic products contain synthetic fragrances that are strongly associated with harmful health effects, such as hormone disruptors, allergenic compounds, potentially carcinogenic substances, and elements that can affect the respiratory system or cause headaches.
Our perfumes, made only with essential oils and botanical ingredients, are 100% natural, respectful of your body and the environment. A conscious choice for those seeking well-being without compromising their health or that of the planet.
How long do these perfumes last on the skin?
It's important to know that a truly natural perfume won't last as long on your skin as a synthetic one. That said, the longevity of a botanical perfume will depend primarily on your skin's chemistry, as well as its hydration. In general, our perfumes should remain on your skin for three to four hours before you need to reapply. For this reason, the mist format is ideal—take it anywhere and re-perfume yourself whenever you need!
Are perfumes and products only for women?
Absolutely not! At Bruma, we believe that scents have no gender. Nature's scents don't distinguish between feminine and masculine, and neither do our fragrances.
We design botanical perfumes and unisex fragrance products, avoiding reinforcing gender stereotypes in our compositions, packaging, and communication. We want you to choose freely: based on what you feel, not what is expected.
What type of packaging do you use and why?
At Bruma, we choose packaging that reflects our commitment to nature: it ranges from compostable to recyclable, and we never use plastics.
We choose noble materials such as glass, kraft cardboard, and wood, always seeking to reduce waste and facilitate its reuse or return to the earth. Each package is designed to protect the product, but also to protect the environment that inspires it.
Can wooden containers be composted?
Yes, you should remove the magnets with a knife and then you can put it in your compost bin.
Why did my solid perfume have white dots on the surface?
Those dots are actually granules of shea butter, a natural, unrefined vegetable butter, which solidify faster than the rest of our ingredients. Natural, unrefined butters, like the ones we use in our perfumes, can occasionally separate with temperature changes.
We may see these tiny dots more frequently during the summer months; however, temperature changes as our perfumes travel with you can occur at any time of year. This, rather than a defect, is a sign that we formulate our products without synthetic stabilizers or emulsifiers. So don't worry, it won't affect the quality of your perfume in any way.
I left my solid perfume in a warm place and it melted. What should I do?
Don't worry, just leave it in a cool place or in the refrigerator until it solidifies again. Remember that since this is a 100% natural product, you should keep it in a cool, dry place.
Are any of your ingredients tested on animals?
No, we make sure that all our ingredients are cruelty-free.
My roll-on perfume has darker spots or particles, is this normal?
Yes, and it's a beautiful sign that your perfume is 100% natural!
At Bruma, we don't filter our compositions to keep the densest ingredients intact, such as resins or concretes, which add depth and complexity to the aroma.
In perfumes like Del Desierto, Canelo Chai, or Entre Cipreses, you may notice small, darker particles or sediments: these do not affect the quality of the product; on the contrary, they continue to slowly release their aroma over time.
Nature is perfectly imperfect, and we choose to honor that beauty.
What does it mean that your soaps are cold saponified?
Cold saponification is an artisanal method that allows the nutritional properties of vegetable oils and butters to be preserved to the maximum.
Unlike industrial processes, this technique does not apply extreme heat, resulting in softer, creamier, and more skin-friendly soaps.
Additionally, glycerin, a plant-based humectant that helps keep skin hydrated, is naturally formed during the process.
Do your perfumes have hormone disruptors?
No, because they're made with pure essential oils. We never use synthetic fragrances.
Can I use Bruma products if I am pregnant?
Although our products are 100% natural, some essential oils can be harmful during pregnancy (especially during the first trimester). Essential oil concentrations vary between products, and perfumes are the most concentrated and, therefore, highly recommended.
We recommend discussing the use of our perfumes with your midwife/doula/doctor.
How should I store my products for longer life?
Our products are 100% natural and contain no artificial preservatives, so they require certain care.
We recommend storing them in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
This will help preserve its aromatic properties and extend its shelf life naturally.
